Our vision is to develop and maintain a professional K9 program to provide many different services to our residents in Trumbull County. We provide educational demonstrations in the schools, promote awareness in our community, search for articles and missing persons, tracking of violent felons, and increase drug enforcement and detection throughout the county.

Thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., both K-9s, Lord and Lincoln received body armor. Both K-9’s wears the 4-5 lb., bullet and stab protective vests. The vests are embroidered with the sentiment, “In memory of Officer Jason Lagore and K9 Ranger, ODNR.” Officer Lagore was a dedicated officer, having served 15 years with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. He was responsible for the first ODNR K-9 academy, led the Division of Parks and Watercraft K-9 training program, and was well respected across the state for his expertise working with K-9s. Officer Lagore was responding to a call at Rocky Fork State Park in Highland County, Ohio, when he suffered a medical emergency and later passed away at a local hospital.

K-9 Officer Lord

The first four-legged deputy to join the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office in over a decade, K-9 Officer Lord, was a welcomed addition in June 2020. The 65-pound German Shorthaired Pointer was 2-years-old when he joined the team.

Lord is trained to use his keen sense of smell to track down drugs, assisting the Trumbull Action Group Drug Task Force (TAG) during search warrants. He works hard with deputies, and find drugs in jail, schools, during traffic stops, and during other drug-related investigations. “Lord is highly trained and a valuable tool for the Sheriff’s office. He is out on the streets, working with us every day,” Sheriff Monroe said.

Lord’s handler, Detective Noah Day describes Lord as an obedient, experienced dog. “Lord is a valuable asset to the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office,” said Detective Day.

K-9 Officer Lincoln

K-9 Officer Lincoln is a 2-year-old, 95-pound Belgian Malinois. He’s been working for the Sheriff’s office since April 2022. Lincoln is the second K-9 deputy at the Sheriff’s office.

Lincoln is a dual-purpose dog trained in drug detection, apprehension, and patrol work. Lincoln is skilled, training months prior with his handler, Detective Andre Jarrette. His sole purpose is assisting the Sheriff’s office with sniffing the jail, finding contraband, and assisting with the road interdiction unit. Jarrette says he’s a great dog to work with, well-mannered, and an asset to the TAG Unit, the Sheriff’s office, and the community. “Lincoln is in the community serving and protecting the public,” Jarrette said.

Alpha Pack K-9, located in New Middletown, Ohio, donated Lincoln and his training costs to the Sheriff’s office. Sheriff Paul Monroe says a local veterinarian donated his services for routine checkups. A foundation also made a large donation to the K-9 unit for food, equipment, supplies, and emergency medical expenses.
